Profiles in U.S. Intervention
Sampling of the 56 US interventions in Latin America and the Caribbean
56 US interventions in this hemisphere alone. Here is a quick sampling of some of them - namely Nicaragua, Honduras, Dominican Republic, Haiti, Cuba, Colombia, Chile, Argentina, Jamaica, and Grenada. (Venezuela is discussed under my related post about Chump’s lying justifications to steal Latin American oil reserves and violate hemispheric sovereignty: “Drugs via Fort Bragg! So why “Venezuelan drug-running” is some bullshit.)
Note: Please forgive the obvious omission of Puerto Rico/Borinquen, but its story — from its taking in 1898, through its 1950 US invasion to suppress the independence movement and onto its continued colonial status (worthy only of paper towels following a hurricane) - was meant for a separate piece that’s still in the works.
Note: A comprehensive listing of the 56 interventions can be found here, and to access the map shown below, click here.]
